Two Kilograms Of Meth Seized

Two men have been charged with serious drug offences after more than two kilograms of methylamphetamine and approximately $50,000 in cash was seized.

On Tuesday 22 October, officers conducted a Border Search Area at Perth Airport targeting passengers arriving on domestic flights from Sydney and Melbourne.

Intelligence led officers to a 76-year-old man who arrived on a flight from Melbourne who was believed to have had a quantity of drugs in his possession.

The male was observed at the airport by officers before he left during the search and later returned to collect a bag. Officers followed the man to an address in Dayton, where a traffic stop was conducted and the 76-year-old male and a 55-year-old male were taken into custody.

It will be alleged the bag that was collected at the airport by the 76-year-old male, contained more than two kilograms of methylamphetamine.

A subsequent search of the home in Dayton located more than $50,000 in cash which it will be alleged is the proceeds of drug offences.

The 76-year-old male from Balga has been charged with one count of ‘Possessed a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply. He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on 7 November 2024.

The 55-year-old male from Dayton has been charged with:

– 1 x Possessed a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply

– 1 x Received, possessed, concealed, disposed of or dealt with any money or other property that is the proceeds of an offence

– 1 x Supplied a prohibited drug

He is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 5 December 2024.
