Two men have been charged following an investigation into a public place shooting in Sydney’s west last year.
Shortly after 4am on Tuesday 20 June 2023, officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command were called to Bailley Street, Leumeah, following reports of shots fired.
A parked and unoccupied vehicle was found damaged at the scene. There were no reports of any person being injured.
A crime scene was established, and inquiries into the incident commenced under Strike Force Fatherigay.
A 41-year-old man was arrested at Wetherill Park that day (Tuesday 20 June 2023) and was taken to Fairfield Police Station; however, he was charged unrelated matters.
Following inquiries, around 10.30am yesterday (Monday 8 January 2024), the now 42-year-old man was arrested at a hotel on the Hume Highway, Cabramatta.
He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with:
- Two counts of supply prohibited firearm to unauthorised person
- Supply pistol to person unauthorised to possess it
- Supply prohibited drug greater than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity
- Fire firearm at not dwelling disregarding safety (DV)
- Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (DV)
- Driver not disclose identity of driver/passenger as required
Around that same time, strike force detectives arrested a 33-year-old man during a vehicle stop on Nardoo Street, Ingleburn.
He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with three counts of acquire prohibited firearm supplier not authorised and drive while licence suspended.
The men were refused bail to appear before local courts today (Tuesday 9 January 2024); the 42-year-old at Fairfield and the 33-year-old at Campbelltown.
