Two men and a teenager have been charged following multiple break ins across Sydney.
In August 2024, officers attached to Central Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad North launched an investigation under Strike Force Sweetenham following break ins and thefts of cars at homes across Sydney Metropolitan Region.
As part of investigations, police identified more than 20 break and enters where 12 cars were stolen, which have since been recovered, in a three-week period.
About 8am yesterday (Wednesday 11 September 2024), investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Namatjira Place, Chifley where two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station.
The 19-year-old was charged with:
- · Two counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence
- · Use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence
- · Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner
- · Possess means of disguising face with intent commit indictable offence
- · Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity
The 20-year-old man was charged with never licensed person drive vehicle on road – prior offence and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Both were refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Thursday 12 September 2024).
About 9.15am yesterday (Wednesday 11 September 2024), investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Mount Vernon Street, Glebe and arrested a 17-year-old boy.
He was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The teenager was granted bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 30 September 2024.
