Two p-platers detected more than 60km/h over limit in South West Metropolitan Region

Two teenagers have been charged in separate incidents after allegedly being detected travelling at more than 60km/h over the speed limit in Sydney’s south west.

Traffic and Highway Patrol officers attached to Camden were patrolling Camden Valley Way, Catherine Field, when a Hyundai Veloster was allegedly detected travelling 163km/h in a signposted 80km/h zone about 9.20pm yesterday (Saturday 4 April 2020).

The vehicle was stopped, and the 17-year-old male driver produced a P1 licence. He was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for drive speed dangerous and class A motor vehicle exceed speed over 45km/h.

His licence was suspended for six months and he is due to appear before Picton Local Court on Tuesday 14 July 2020.

About 1.35am (Sunday 5 April 2020), Traffic and Highway Patrol officers attached to Liverpool stopped a Mazda 3 after it was allegedly detected travelling at 164km/h in a 100km/h zone on the M5 at Prestons.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, produced a P1 licence and was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for class A motor vehicle exceed speed over 45km/h.

He is due to appear before court in July and his licence was suspended.
