A teen will face court charged over an alleged aggravated break-in in the state’s west last week.
Just after 4am on Thursday (7 March 2024), police received a report of a break and enter at a home on Hope Street, Bourke.
Police were told the occupant – a woman aged 51 – was threatened with knives before a group of youths attempted to enter her home before they left empty handed.
The woman was not injured.
Officers attached to Central North Police District commenced an investigation into incident.
Following inquiries, police attended a home in Bourke about 1pm the same day, and arrested a 16-year-old boy.
He was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter with intent-armed and armed with intent commit indictable offence.
The boy was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Friday (8 March 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Monday 18 March 2024.
Following further inquiries, about 11.50am yesterday (Monday 11 March 2024), officers attended a home in Bourke and arrested a 14-year-old boy.
He was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter, and commit serious indictable offence.
The boy was given conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday 18 March 2024.
