TWU has slammed the Federal Government over financial assistance for billionaires and their private jets saying the move highlighted inequality at the heart of the Government’s policies.
TWU ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Secretary Michael Kaine said the Federal Government refused point blank to include thousands of stood down Dnata workers in the the Jobkeeper Scheme because of their company’s structure but has allowed Clive Palmer and Crown to access public assistance packages.
“The Federal Government has revealed exactly who it represents. While aviation workers have had their livelihoods devastated and thousands of Dnata workers have had no pay since March, the Morrison Government is funnelling favours to mates. This stinks to high heaven,” he said.
“The Federal Government is also adopting a ‘no strings attached corporate welfare’ to Qantas, writing cheques to the tune of $800 million in Jobkeeper and other subsidies but refusing to demand that the outsourcing of 2,500 loyal workers be stopped. This public support for rich mates while allowing aviation workers to suffer and lose their jobs is a disgrace.”
