Students commencing study in nursing and allied health courses at the University of Canberra (UC) in 2024 will share in the ACT Government’s $3 million program to support the growth of the future health workforce in the ACT. On offer are $3,000 per year for three years cost-of-living stipends, and additional financial support when undertaking work placements.
Eligible students looking to study nursing, midwifery and a selection of the University’s allied health courses such as occupational therapy, medical imaging, physiotherapy and pharmacy in 2024 will have the opportunity to benefit from financial support across their course of study with UC.
“As part of our partnership with the ACT Government, it is wonderful to be in a position to provide our future nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals with financial support, and particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and those moving to Canberra from regional, rural and remote locations,” said Professor Michelle Lincoln, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health at the University of Canberra.
“This translates into students being able to focus on their studies and undertake crucial placements, at a time when we know that cost-of-living challenges are affecting many in our community.”
The ACT Government’s funding support will be available to students commencing study in Semester One in 2024 said Professor Lincoln.
