UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances to review Mali, Czech Republic and Uruguay

GENEVA (9 September 2022)- The UN (CED) will hold its upcoming session from 12 to 23 September, during which it will review Mali, the Czech Republic and Uruguay.

The session will begin on 12 September at 10:00 am Geneva time with a public meeting. During a tribute to victims of enforced disappearances, the opening will feature the testimony of a victim of enforced disappearance from Sri Lanka.

Mali, the Czech Republic and Uruguay are among the 68 States parties to the . They are required to undergo regular reviews by the Committee of 10 independent international experts on how they are implementing the Convention as well as the Committee’s previous recommendations.

The CED, which has received the respective country reports and other submissions from non-governmental organizations, will discuss a range of issues with the three State delegations through public dialogues on the following dates at Geneva time:

Mali

Czech Republic

13 September 15:00-18:00

14 September 10:00-13:00

Uruguay

15 September 15:00-18:00
