Locals keen to improve their soil quality turned out to learn more about the art of composting at this informative session run by Shelley from Midwaste at the Kempsey Library on Saturday 21 October.
At this interactive session attendees learned the magic of turning their cuttings, clippings, and food scraps into nutrient rich compost ready for their gardens. Shelley’s very insightful discussion on the differences between composting and how to feed a worm farm, gained a lot of positive comments from the attendees.
The benefits of composting are many, it is a fabulous way to reduce organic waste and can help improve soil health and quality. Compost provides vital nutrients your plants need to grow such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as increasing beneficial microorganisms in the soil.
It is also a terrific way to reduce and reuse organic waste at home, preventing it from ending up in landfill.
Thank you to Shelley and all those who participated, we hope you enjoyed the session.
