Officers from Arson Squad are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at a residential unit in Carlisle this morning, 28 January 2023.
Just before 7am, Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) were called to a block of home units located on Bishopsgate Street near Oats Street.
On arrival DFES located one unit on fire and were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to nearby units.
A 70-year-old man, an occupant of the unit was conveyed by ambulance to hospital to receive medical treatment for smoke inhalation and minor burns.
Arson Squad detectives urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles in the area, or who has CCTV or dash-cam vision of Bishopsgate Street between 6.30am and 7.30am, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au
