The University of Adelaide has reaffirmed its place in one of the world’s most prestigious university rankings.

The latest ShanghaiRanking Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has seen the University of Adelaide lift its position to 132nd in the world.

The University of Adelaide continues to be placed in the top 1% of universities globally, and is firmly placed as the number 1 university in South Australia

and among the best in Australia.

The 2022 rankings measured 2500 global universities and publishes how the top 1000 intuitions performed over six metrics – Alumni Awards, Staff Awards, Highly Cited Researchers, Papers in the journals Nature and Science, Publication Output and Per-Capita Academic Performance.

The ARWU’s announcement earlier this year that many of the University’s research fields are in the top 100 in the world underlined this latest ranking.

“The University of Adelaide’s consistent results across all the most prestigious rankings reflect the depth and quality of work being carried out by our community of researchers,” says Professor Anton Middelberg, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

“Finding solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges is at the forefront of what we as a global institution aim to achieve.

“Our students also benefit by learning from some of the best minds in their fields. A University of Adelaide education prepares them to be the next generation of leaders who will aim to make their own history by helping society – wherever they may choose to pursue their goals.

“South Australia, our nation and the world will continue to benefit from the work carried out at our University.

“We are very pleased by these latest results which recognise our position as a world-leading University.”
