Groote Eylandt Police have charged four males with property offences following an alleged unlawful entry yesterday morning.
Around 1:30am police were called to an incident at a business with reports of intruders armed with machetes. The group forced entry to the location, caused extensive damage and stole a large quantity of alcohol.
Police responded immediately however on arrival the persons of interest had left the scene. Patrols of the surrounding area located a quantity of empty alcohol containers which police seized.
Following extensive enquiries, Groote Eylandt Police and Dog Operations Unit officers located and arrested the four males.
Three males, aged 18, have been charged with:
- Unlawful Entry – Building
- Stealing
- Damage to Property
A 25-year-old male has been charged with receiving stolen property.
Police are continuing their search for further persons of interest.
