Institution ranks 30th in Young University Rankings

UOW rated among the world’s best young universities

The University of Wollongong (UOW) has been ranked 30th in the world and third in Australia in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings announced Monday 3 July 2023.

The Young University Rankings assesses institutions globally that are less than 50 years old and evaluates them based on various criteria, including teaching, research output, industry engagement, international outlook, and academic reputation. More than 600 universities worldwide were included in the 2023 rankings, making UOW’s achievement even more commendable.

UOW Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Patricia M. Davidson expressed her delight at the result, which follows strong performances in the recent THE Impact Rankings, QS World University Rankings, QS Star Ratings and QILT Student Experience Survey.

“Our achievements in these rankings are testament to the collective efforts of our staff and a University-wide commitment to making a positive impact on the world and the communities we operate in through transformative education and world-class research,” Professor Davidson said.

“This result is built on a commitment to providing a world-class education, fostering an environment conducive to ground-breaking research and development, collaborating with industry to translate innovative thinking into real-world outcomes, and a genuinely global outlook.”
