Two men have now been charged with murder following the death of a 41-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted outside a licensed premises at Gympie.
Around 2am yesterday morning November 19, members of the public rendered first aid to the man in Mary Street after it is alleged he was punched and fell hitting his head on the roadway.
It is alleged the man continued to be assaulted while he was on the ground.
The 41-year-old man from Lagoon Pocket was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition but has today passed away from his injuries.
Two men aged 24 and 21, both from Gympie were initially charged with grievous bodily harm but the charge was upgraded to murder in the Gympie Magistrates Court today.
Both men have been remanded in custody to reappear in Gympie Magistrates Court at a later date
