The Chief Health Officer issued updated directions (on 18 October) that permit people to undertake approved emergency preparation activities.
Previously, if you live in metropolitan Melbourne and own property in regional Victoria, you could not travel to your regional property to prepare it for an emergency, unless you had been issued with a Fire Prevention Notice, legally requiring you to undertake fire preparedness activities for that property, from your local council.
The updated directions do still mention the need for written approval from Council, but this is separate to a formal Fire Prevention Notice.
