Two males have been charged in relation to a number of offences alleged to have occurred on Wednesday evening.
It is alleged that a group of three males acted in a disorderly manner while on board a public bus, causing significant disturbance to passengers, before throwing rocks and a glass bottle at the outside of the bus after disembarking.
A child on the bus was injured and required stitches after the bottle struck them to the face.
The alleged offenders fled prior to police arrival, with two of them apprehended yesterday evening by Casuarina General Duties members.
It is also alleged that one of the males was in possession of stolen property from residences in Nakara and while being arrested, spat on one of the police officers.
A 17-year-old was charged with:
• Unlawful entry x 2
• Stealing x 2
• Attempt unlawful entry x 1
• Assault Police
• Armed with offensive weapon
• Engage in violent conduct
• Damage to property
A 20-year-old was charged with:
• Unlawful entry x 2
• Stealing x 2
• Trespass
• Damage to property
• Engage in violent conduct
• Armed with offensive weapon
It is also alleged that a third member of the group indecently assaulted a female who was waiting at a bus stop before she and the males boarded the bus.
Police are continuing their enquiries to locate the third male.
