Mayor of Hobsons Bay Cr Colleen Gates has issued a statement to update the community about the clean up of contamination at the Paisley Challis Wetlands site.
“We are working with Melbourne Water, EPA and Parks Victoria in regards to the contamination of the Paisley Challis Wetlands site.
“There is much anger and disappointment being expressed from the community – and we feel exactly the same.
“The impact on the flora and fauna that call the Paisley Challis Wetlands home is irreversible, particularly for the migratory birds who need to feed here before flying back to the northern hemisphere. You simply cannot put a price on that.
“We encourage the community to remain alert to help protect our environment and to report serious matters like this to the EPA on 1300 EPA VIC.”
