Council would like to remind visitors to the Warburton area that access to the Redwoods Forest via Cement Creek Road Bridge is closed.
Electronic road signs and safety barricades have been in place in the area and at the bridge for some time warning visitors of the closure, so we’re disappointed to hear reports of people ignoring this and walking through the construction site to get to the forest.
The bridge has been undergoing a necessary safety upgrade, however due to the landslip along Warburton Highway caused by the October flood, it has meant we’ve been unable to bring in the heavy machinery required to complete the works.
The bridge upgrades will recommence once the highway has been repaired by VicRoads, who in their latest community update stated that the landslip repair works will begin in February.
