As a consequence of the Transition Committee held today, Police Commissioner Grant Stevens; in his role as the State Coordinator, has announced effective immediately that all travellers from New Zealand will be able to travel to SA as long as they have not transited through Victoria. They will not be required to complete 14 days quarantine. Those people who are currently in quarantine have been released and no longer are required to complete the 14 days.
It is anticipated that the following changes will come into effect at 0001 Saturday 24 October 2020.
Arriving from Victoria
There are currently limited reasons for travellers from Victoria to enter South Australia. These will be expanded to include:
* Students returning to SA after studying in Victoria;
* People relocating to South Australia, permanently or for work purposes, providing criteria around accommodation and employment in SA can be met.
* People passing through South Australia, for example, driving to Western Australia or the Northern Territory providing they will be allowed entry into that state on arrival.
Like all travellers entering South Australia, they will need to complete a Cross Border travel approval form online via the SAPOL website.
Border communities
Victorian residents who live within 70 km of the South Australian border will be able to enter South Australia for any reason, provided they do not go further than 70 km into South Australia from the Victorian border. Further to this, they will be permitted to travel up and down the border in that corridor beyond 70kms.
It is acknowledged that many restrictions still apply, but they are critical in dealing with the spread of COVID-19.
