An upgrade of Heaslip Road has improved access and amenity at Angle Vale, with the upgraded road re-opening to traffic last month.

The construction works, which commenced this April, have improved vehicle and pedestrian access between Angle Vale Road and Woodbridge Drive, which serves as a primary connection to the rest of Angle Vale.

“This upgrade is an important investment in our city’s infrastructure and has improved a key traffic link for local residents and commuters,” said City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty.

“We know this area of our city is experiencing significant residential growth. Our existing and new residents need and want safe access to services and infrastructure to raise their families and enjoy a happy and connected lifestyle.

“As well as a key commuter corridor, this part of Heaslip Road is heavily used by the school community and features a shared-use path, footpath and upgraded pedestrian crossing, improving access and connectivity for students, family and staff at Trinity College Gawler River,” said Mayor Docherty.

The upgrade includes new landscaping and finishes, lifting the amenity of the area.

“Angle Vale is changing from a semi-rural township to a busy suburb,” Mayor Docherty said. “The requirement to upgrade this portion of the road to an urban standard reflects this transition.”

The Heaslip Road upgrade was a key project in the Council’s 2022/23 Annual Business Plan and jointly funded by the State Government and Council through the Angle Vale Growth Area Road Infrastructure Deed. Council funded the full cost of the new pedestrian crossing.

Council continues to work closely with the State Government on the planning for infrastructure upgrades throughout the growing parts of our city.
