Upgrading Regional Public Aged Care Facilities

The Victorian Government is upgrading public sector residential aged care services across regional Victoria, creating new jobs and ensuring hundreds of older Victorians continue to receive the high quality care and comfort they deserve.

Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Luke Donnellan today announced the 21 successful public sector aged care recipients of the $10 million Rural Residential Aged Care Facilities Renewal Program.

The renewal program supports improvement projects to deliver significant enhancements for aged care residents and help meet the growing demand for services in regional and rural Victoria.

The program is helping regional public sector residential aged care services across the Alpine, Baw Baw, Campaspe, East Gippsland, Greater Bendigo, Greater Geelong, Glenelg, Hepburn, Horsham Indigo, Latrobe, Mitchell, Moira, Mount Alexander, Murrindindi, Surf Coast, Swan Hill, Towong, Wellington and Yarriambiack areas.

Recipients include Rupanyup Nursing ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ which is receiving over $2.1 million for a new kitchen, a large family and resident community lounge and dining area, disability access improvements and nurse call upgrades.

Wilson Lodge in Sale will receive $570,000 to redesign their outdoor space to create a dementia friendly area with covered private and social spaces with easy access to vegetable and herb gardens and a sensory path with raised garden beds.

In addition, Lakeview Nursing ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ in Tallangatta is receiving more than $320,000 to convert four shared rooms into single rooms with their own ensuites, along with upgrade works to improve stock and clinical storage areas.

Almost $150,000 is being provided to Darlingford Upper Goulburn Nursing ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ in Eildon to improve outdoor area and improve views for residents.

The Victorian Government is investing record amounts in public sector aged care, including more than $338.4 million to deliver new facilities with more than 420 beds across Kew, Wantirna, Cheltenham, Rutherglen, Edenhope and Seymour.
