The University of Queensland (UQ) has launched its inaugural to enhance disability research culture, capabilities, and collaboration across the University.
Developed after extensive consultation with the research community, the plan outlines the University’s vision for excellence in disability inclusion research. It aims to generate insights and knowledge about the experiences, challenges, and strengths of people with disabilities, and to champion impactful research by people with lived experience of disability.
The plan includes 24 actions which will better support researchers living with disability, enable partnerships to support disability research, and drive research excellence.
Actions include improved support for HDR students living with disability, additional training for academic and professional staff, improving accessibility of research infrastructure and environments, and promoting visibility of UQ’s disability research capability and expertise.
The plan covers the period from 2024 to 2026, and builds on UQ’s and UQ’s to strengthen inclusivity across the University community.
