The University of Queensland is one of Australia’s most comprehensive, research-intensive universities, national research quality data released today confirms.
The has rated UQ above and well above world standard in more specialised fields of research than any other Australian university, across 93 disciplines.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) said the ERA results were a resounding affirmation of the exceptional quality of work being done by UQ’s researchers across all disciplines.
“It’s tremendously heartening that UQ also rated above or well above world standard in 100 per cent of the 22 broad fields of research,” Professor Harch said.
“For UQ to do so well across the full field is extremely rewarding. This strongly asserts and emphasises its position as a top-tier, comprehensive research university.
“But fundamentally, this is about the quality of work that our researchers do on a daily basis.”
Professor Harch said the results reinforced the value of investment UQ had made over decades, building formidable expertise and capacity in its researchers and facilities.
“They also highlight how our strong partnerships with industry, government and the community continue to fuel our quality research outcomes,” she said.
Professor Harch said UQ surpassed its 2015 ERA results ERA, across the board, receiving more “well above world standard” ratings than ever before.
“I sincerely congratulate all our researchers, staff and students whose commitment and dedication to top quality research shines through today,” she said.
“With such high ratings in all fields of endeavour and outstanding research commercialisation, this result underscores why UQ is the go-to institution for solving ‘wicked’ problems.
“We draw on our quality disciplinary research to create change through providing knowledge leadership for a better world.”
UQ was rated highest or equal highest in the nation in 10 broad fields: Mathematical Sciences; Physical Sciences; Chemical Sciences; Environmental Sciences; Biological Sciences; Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences; Medical and Health Sciences; Studies in Human Society; Psychology and Cognitive Sciences; and Build Environment and Design.
