Imagine Uraidla Inc. has taken out the prize for Best Regional Mainstreet at the Mainstreet SA Awards 2019 alongside Kapunda, who tied for the accolade.
The awards, which recognise the importance of mainstreets and their role in local communities, are distributed annually across the state. The Best Regional Mainstreet award acknowledged Imagine Uraidla’s role as an “exceptional mainstreet community whose hard work and notable successes serve as a model for district vitality, revitalisation, business development, active involvement and economic impact”.
Imagine Uraidla is a community-led initiative that has seen the regeneration of the township through community support and building local identity. In January they were the overall winner of the Santos Best Dressed Town during Santos Tour Down Under after hosting a stage finish in their now award-winning mainstreet.
Further to this great achievement, Stirling was inducted into the Mainstreet SA Hall of Fame after twice winning the People’s Choice for Best Main Street. This induction was accepted by Mayor Jan-Claire Wisdom and David Clarke, the outgoing Chair of the Stirling Business Association. Mr Clarke was also acknowledged with a personal contribution award for his personal efforts to pursue betterment of Stirling’s mainstreet.
