The VBA is undergoing a major reform program prioritising and protecting consumers and helping them navigate the complex building system.
Representatives from the building and plumbing regulator will be on hand to give advice and hand out important information including a new consumer guide “Protect your Build” for those building or renovating a home in Victoria.
The VBA registers and licenses builders and plumbers, carries out inspections and audits to monitor compliance and uses its enforcement powers and penalties when appropriate.
Other key government agencies will also be there including Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV) and the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA).
DBDRV is an independent government agency providing free dispute resolution services to address domestic building disputes.
VMIA is the Government’s risk adviser and insurer. Their role includes providing Domestic Building Insurance (DBI). DBI is compulsory for builders to purchase before taking a deposit under any domestic building contract with a contract price over $16,000.
The Melbourne ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Show will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre over three days from Friday August 23.
