Victoria name 2nd XI rookie squad to take on South Australia

Victoria have named a 12-player rookie squad for its three-day 2nd XI game against South Australia in Bendigo, starting on Monday.

Footscray’s Dylan Brasher will captain the side, while fellow contracted-players Ashley Chandrasinghe, Cameron McClure and Doug Warren will join him against the Redbacks.

Harry Dixon and Harkirat Bajwa have also been named following their successful Under 19 World Cup campaign.

Cricket Victoria’s Head of Male Cricket, David Hussey, said that the game would be a great experience for Victoria’s up and coming cricketers.

“Our players are excited to be able to head out to Bendigo and take on South Australia in what should be a good opportunity for them,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Dylan Brasher captain the squad and continue his growth as a leader.

“It is also a fantastic chance for some of our younger Premier cricketers to continue their develop and play some longer-form cricket.

“We also want to thank the Bendigo District Cricket Association and the City of Greater Bendigo for their support in hosting this match opportunity.
