Victoria’s most innovative advanced manufacturers converged in Moonee Ponds to showcase their latest products and services, cementing the state’s standing as the nation’s manufacturing capital.
The 2023 Victorian Manufacturing Showcase was held last week at Moonee Valley Racing Club, a Victorian Government event bringing together hundreds of local manufacturers, industry leaders, suppliers and education providers.
This year’s showcase attracted the highest number of exhibitor and attendee registrations in its 7-year history, with more than 80 businesses exhibiting and 1,000 people in attendance, highlighting the strength of the state’s manufacturing industry.
Held in partnership with NORTH Link, the event demonstrated the depth and variety of Victorian manufacturing and provided industry with opportunities to network, collaborate and find new ways to grow. Key sectors represented at the event included defence, transport, food and fibre, construction and medical technologies.
An impressive display of locally made products were on display from home-grown innovators including Amiga Engineering, CSL, Integra Systems, Rinnai, Smarterlite and Sutton Tools.
Key speakers and panellists included Gavin Smith, Chief Executive Officer and President of Bosch Australia and Besa Deda, Chief Economist of Westpac. A variety of topics were discussed including the circular economy, skills and training, finding and retaining talent, and the digitisation of manufacturing operations.
Victoria’s $33 billion manufacturing industry contributes significantly to the state’s economy, made up of over 24,000 businesses, supporting more than 260,000 jobs and exporting goods worth $23.9 billion.
