Life will get harder for Victorian workers, families and businesses after Labor and the Greens passed a raft of new taxes.
Since 2014, the Andrews Government has introduced or increased nearly 50 taxes as net debt soars to a record $171 billion.
With the passing of the State Taxation Acts Amendment Bill, the Andrews Government and the Greens have chosen to inflict more pain on Victorians at a time when they are facing unprecedented cost-of-living pressures.
Shadow Treasurer, Brad Rowswell, said: “We oppose Labor’s Schools Tax, Rent Tax, Jobs Tax and Debt Tax because Victorians deserve better than to be punished for the incompetence of the Andrews Government.
“Instead of introducing new or increased taxes, we will focus on increasing productivity so that every Victorian gets bang for the taxpayer buck, reducing waste and cost blowouts on public projects, bringing debt under control, and supporting the private sector to invest back in our state and generate job growth.
“A Pesutto Government will repeal Labor’s unjust Schools Tax and immediately legislate a state debt cap.”
