A group of 170 members from the Republic of Korea Navy (ROK-N) received a warm welcome during their visit to the Royal Australian Naval College (RANC) at HMAS Creswell.

The members sailed to Sydney’s Fleet Base East on October 30, on board ROK-N Ships Daecheong and Hansando.

The Cruise Training Task Group is visiting Australia as part of a regional deployment in which they will also visit eight other countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

Commanding Officer RANC Commander Kate Woodall said the visit from the ROK-N Training Task Group was indicative of Australia’s deepening cooperation with its partners in the Indo-Pacific.

“It was a great opportunity to re-affirm our strong navy-to-navy links and facilitate relationship building through a visit to the Naval College,” Commander Woodall said.

The RANC visitors engaged with the new-entry officers in training, toured the RAN School of Survivability and Ship Safety and took part in sporting activities with the trainees on Captain’s Beach.

They were also fortunate to view some of Creswell’s unique fauna and flora, including kangaroos and echidnas.

The RAN and ROK-N have worked together on many occasions over the years during exercises Haedoli Wallaby and Pacific Vanguard, and more recently on multinational exercises Pacific Dragon, Rim of the Pacific and Exercise Kakadu.
