Vodafone is helping its mobile customers connect with friends and family in Türkiye and Syria by providing free standard international mobile phone calls to the earthquake-affected region for the next seven days.
From 10 February, 2023 to 11.59pm, 16 February 2023, Vodafone will provide free mobile standard international calls to Turkiye and Syria for postpaid and prepaid customers so relatives of those affected by the earthquake disaster can stay in touch without the worry of extra charges appearing on their mobile bills.
“Our thoughts are with the people of Türkiye and Syria, their families and communities in Australia and around the world. We hope this small gesture of free calls can help our customers reconnect and support their loved ones in these challenging times,” said Arthur Panos, Vodafone General Manager Products and Devices.
Potential infrastructure damage in the region could affect telecommunication services in the region. If customers experience any issues connecting with friends and family in Türkiye and Syria, they may need to retry calling multiple times to successfully connect.
Free-rating applies to standard international voice calls to Türkiye (prefix +90) and Syria (prefix +963). The following services are excluded from free-rating, and usage will incur additional charges: Premium calls, Premium SMS, SMS, MMS, video calls, calls to satellite phones, and international roaming in Türkiye and Syria.
Vodafone, through its parent group TPG Telecom, is also running an internal giving campaign for its employees, with the TPG Telecom Foundation committing to match employee contributions. All fundraising through this initiative will be donated to CARE Australia, a leading international aid organisation working around the globe to save lives and defeat poverty.
