Best-selling author Fleur McDonald will launch her latest novel, Broad River Station, as part of her Australian tour celebrating her 20th novel, at the Mount Gambier Library on Monday 14 November 2022 at 7:00pm.
Acting Manager Library and Community Development Kristi Brooks said Fleur McDonald is one of Australia’s leading rural literature authors. Her books become best-sellers almost as quickly as they hit the shelves.
“Having sold over 700,000 copies of her books, Fleur McDonald has solidified her position as one of the country’s favourite storytellers,” said Ms Brooks.
Fleur draws inspiration from having lived and worked on farms for much of her life and now owns 4050 hectares across regional Western Australia.
Fleur likes to write about strong women overcoming adversity, drawing on her own experiences in rural Australia, with most of them featuring her leading detective, Dave Burrows.
In Broad River Station, a young constable faces prejudice in a small country town, but the search for a missing child changes everything.
Mia, a newly graduated constable, is assigned to the small country town of Broad River. And as certain as she is about her ability to do the job, she’s already in conflict with colleagues who believe that women shouldn’t be coppers.
In the midst of all this, a local child goes missing, and Mia is confined to the barracks. When Detective Dave Burrows realises she has skills that could be put to use, Mia’s career takes a new turn, and she must decide down which road to walk.
