Campaspe Shire Council has opened up nominations for the 2020 Volunteer Awards which acknowledges and rewards individuals and groups within our community who work tirelessly to benefit others.
Mayor Cr Adrian Weston said the awards program highlights the value of what volunteers bring to our community, making it a better place to live.
“Volunteers are everyday people doing extraordinary things and this is a chance to pay tribute to their hard work and dedication,” Cr Weston said.
Awards are presented in the following categories:
Individual: outstanding voluntary contribution and achievement by an individual person
Young person: outstanding voluntary contribution and achievement by a person aged under 25 years
Organisation: an outstanding contribution and achievement by a not-for-profit organisation for supporting its volunteers.
Volunteers dedicate their time to local sports clubs, schools, service clubs, community organisations, churches and emergency service agencies within the Campaspe community
“We have an extraordinary level of programs provided by volunteers and often the value of our volunteers is overlooked. This is our chance to say thank you for their outstanding commitment,” Cr Weston said.
The awards coincide with ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week, 18 – 24 May, and will be presented at a special ceremony to be held on 21 May. The winners of the Individual and Young Person categories will each receive a prize to the value of $250 and the winner of the Organisation category will receive a prize to the value of $550.
“Often, volunteers don’t seek recognition and reward, so I encourage you to nominate a worthy candidate for their ongoing support and the positive difference they make to our community,” Cr Weston said.
The closing date for 2020 Volunteer Award nominations is Friday, 17 April.
Nomination forms are available on Council’s website or from customer service centres.
