We have received funding from the NSW Government Bushfire Community Recovery & Resilience Fund to run a new series of events this summer to encourage youth participation and help affected communities recover from the impacts of bushfire, flood & COVID-19.
The events are happening throughout our region and we’re putting the call out for volunteers to help make the Youth Adventure Series an unforgettable time for our region’s youth. The events are:
• The Snowy Monaro Skate Park Series
o This free skatepark event is a Skate, Scoot or BMX competition and is open for all styles and levels. The day will include free coaching from professionals between 8am -10am, music, and prizes and giveaways from Vans, Skullcandy and other sponsors.
• The Adventure Challenge Series
o This free adventure sports event is an action-packed challenge that sees participants racing as a pair in three different disciplines; 1km kayak, 3km trail run, 8km mountain bike in the beautiful Snowy locations of Eucumbene, Bombala and Jindabyne.
• The Southern Region Skate Park Series (including Queanbeyan, Bega, Tumut, Cooma and Jindabyne)
o Same format as Snowy Monaro Skate Park Series.
Volunteers are needed for the Cooma and Jindabyne Events.
Volunteer commitments – Skate Park Series:
14 volunteers are needed on the ground per event to undertake the following duties: BBQ, safety/kids help, registration. We ask for a minimum commitment of four hours to support youth to participate in these great events. A thorough induction and briefing will be provided by event managers, The Shift Corp.
Volunteers are needed from 6.30am – 5.30pm on these dates for the Snowy Monaro Skate Park Series:
o Cooma – Tuesday 18 January
o Bombala – Saturday 12 February 2022
o Berridale Saturday 12 March 2022
o Jindabyne (Final) Saturday 23 April 2022
• Dates for the Southern Region Skate Park Series are:
o Cooma – Saturday 5 March 2022 AND Jindabyne (Final) – Sunday 24 April 2022
Volunteer commitments – Adventure Challenge Series:
26 volunteers needed on the ground per event to undertake the following duties: BBQ, safety/kids help, registration, course marshal walking, course marshal biking, and course marshal kayaking. We ask for a minimum commitment of four hours to support youth to participate in these great events. A thorough induction and briefing will be provided by event manager The Shift Corp.
• Volunteers are needed from 6.30am – 3pm
• Dates for the 2022 Adventure Series are:
o JANUARY: Eucumbene – Saturday 15 January and Jindabyne Saturday 29 January
o FEBRUARY: Bombala – Saturday 26 February
Volunteer requirements:
You must have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) that is valid in NSW. If you don’t have a WWCC, we can assist you in applying for one.
