Volunteer groups rewarded with one-off funding grants

  • Four Volunteer Resource Centres awarded funding to establish sustainable volunteer program practices
  • The Building Sustainable Volunteering Services Grant recipients will support the continuation of volunteering service provision in their local communities

Volunteering Minister Stephen Dawson has awarded grants to four organisations through a one-off grants program to support sustainable volunteering services.

The Albany and Regional Volunteer Service, Peel Volunteer Resource Centre, Volunteer South West and the Shire of Esperance will each receive up to $25,000 to develop sustainable business practices and increase their investment in volunteering.

The Grant Program will help the recipients to establish sustainable practices that meet the needs of the local community.

The funding can be used for strategic planning, research and development, staff wages and training, long-term marketing tools including development of publications and consultancy fees.

The Grant Program will build the capacity of organisations that involve, recognise and value volunteers and volunteering.

The Building Sustainable Volunteering Services Grant Program implements key outcomes of the WA Volunteering Strategy – responding to the changing needs of volunteers and engaging volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds.

As stated by Volunteering Minister Stephen Dawson:

“The McGowan Government is committed to building sustainable volunteering organisations that are embedded in their communities for the long term.

“Generations of volunteers and volunteer organisations are what keep things like community sport or local firefighters going year after year.

“These grants will help ensure that we are investing in the immeasurable contributions made by volunteer organisations for the long term.

“Volunteering is an enriching experience; it is extremely satisfying to give back to the community.”
