Annually, in May, Federation Council celebrates all community volunteers by inviting them together to celebrate and connect with Council and the wider volunteer community.
The celebration recognizes each volunteer for the vital role they play within the Federation community and celebrates them with lunch, entertainment and a guest speaker.
This year, Council’s Volunteer Recognition Celebration was held on Sunday, May 22 at the Waterfront Pavilion in Urana.
Lunch was provided by the Urana Bowls Club and guests were entertained with live music by local musician, Marcus Osborne.
This year’s volunteer week theme was ‘Better Together’ and Council was thrilled to welcome its 2022 guest speakers who were invited to speak at the event.
Guest speakers were Federation Council’s Citizens of the Year from 2018 to 2022 – Peter Seeliger (2018), Liz Seeliger (2020), and Vivian Spilva (2021). Lauren and Dean Holgate (2022) were unable to attend the event but passed on their well wishes and congratulations to all volunteers.
Federation Council Mayor, Pat Bourke said it was great to bring everyone together at the Waterfront Pavillion to celebrate the amazing volunteers we have within the Federation Council community.
“Volunteers bring so much positivity to Federation Council and we know the critical role they play in empowering individuals, in fostering active citizenship and in building inclusive and resilient communities in which we can all flourish,” he said.
“We know that volunteering has many benefits for those individuals who volunteer, the organisations to which they contribute and society as a whole. Council will continue to recognise the contribution our local volunteers make and I thank everyone who joined us on the day to celebrate.”
