Victoria University’s and the have been ranked 9th in the world in the latest for 2020.
In only three years, “Sport” (the and the ) has jumped 12 places, from 21 to nine. This remarkable rise confirms VU’s position as a leading Tertiary Education provider in Australia, one that offers prospective students the largest range of courses in sport and exercise science, exercise rehabilitation, physical education, sport management, and outdoor recreation and fitness.
“This is an incredible achievement that places VU at the very top together with other institutions that have a tradition of excellence in sport and exercise sciences. It is the visible outcome of the hard work and dedication of everyone in the College and the Institute for Health and Sport,” said Professor Andrew Stewart, Dean College of Sport & Exercise Science.
Globally, this new ranking strengthens the College’s outstanding performance in an extremely competitive field.
Locally, the College of Sport and Exercise Science works with more than two hundred sporting professional bodies and employers to ensure that students graduate industry-ready and are equipped to meet workforce needs.
Professor Andrew Stewart also acknowledges the hard work and commitment displayed by Dr Fabio Serpiello who, since 2017, has focussed on ways to leverage academic publications and provide crucial thought leadership in relation to rankings and ways in which VU can promote the College’s and Institute’s outstanding performance.
“I am extremely proud that VU’s College of Sport and Exercise Science and Institute for Health and Sport have received such positive endorsement on a global stage. It is also fantastic validation for the many staff and students who have worked so hard to ensure VU remains an exciting and innovative place to study and learn. It’s a great way to end what has been a very challenging year for all,” said Professor Andrew Stewart.
In for 2020, VU was ranked against more than 300 universities around the world, sharing the 9th spot with Finland’s University of Jyvaskyla. The ranked universities are listed based on the measurements of publication, citation, citations per publication, top 25% journals publications, and internationally collaborated publications.
