The WA State Government has published the communique from the Supporting Communities Forum meeting held on 24 June 2019.The Supporting Communities Forum (the Forum) supports the implementation of the State Government’s Supporting Communities policy which is focused on improving the quality of services provided to vulnerable Western Australians. This work will also support the directions of the McGowan Government’s Machinery of Government reforms and the recommendations emerging from the Service Priority Review. NDS WA State Manager, Julie Waylen, is a member of the Forum which aims to identify opportunities for better designed services, and help guide future Government priorities. Other significant matters discussed included the critical importance of cultural competency and awareness within the Government and community sectors; the release of the Government’s endorsement of the recommendations made in the ‘Sustainable Health Review’; and the 10-Year partnership agreement on Closing the Gap including the appointment of an Interim Aboriginal Working Group. The next meeting of the Forum is scheduled for 9 September 2019. It will consider the draft ‘Privacy and Responsible Sharing for the WA Public Sector – Discussion Paper’, plus discuss the draft 10-Year ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾lessness Strategy; opportunities for procurement co-design; and the final Collaboration report which will synthesise literature review findings and identify the attributes, enablers and barriers to collaboration.
