Western Australia has a new destination for lovers of fresh produce, handmade artisan products and gourmet eateries to explore, with Origins Market in Busselton today opening its doors.
Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan today joined developers, local leaders and members of the community to officially open the one-stop shop featuring more than 60 makers, creators and growers under the one roof.
With support from a $70,000 investment from the McGowan Government’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants, the market is unlocking new opportunities for local businesses including start-ups.
The aspirations of local entrepreneurs are being backed through an incubator kitchen, which is available for hire by start-ups, producers and market vendors wanting to cook up culinary creations or move into value-adding.
Two business incubator stalls provide a platform for start-ups to sell their wares to an eager audience.
Among the many features of the indoor venue is a space where vendors and local creatives can run programs, such as workshops and masterclasses, and earn additional income streams.
Visitors can enjoy fresh international cuisine inspired from around the world. Communal dining provides foodies with a place for people to come together and enjoy delights from the eateries.
There is also a licensed tavern and wine bar where visitors can grab a drink and relax in the licensed area. Winemakers, distillers and cideries present the opportunity for a wine tour of WA.
Origins Market trades Thursday and Sunday from 7am to 6pm, and Friday and Saturday from 7am to 9pm.

“It is terrific to see local entrepreneurial spirit on display. More than 60 businesses are already operating out of Origins Market, including businesses which are brand new or were previously home-based.
“The McGowan Government is proud to back local business aspirations.
“The incubator kitchen is helping businesses to get off the ground or take their plans to the next level, reducing barriers to entry to the retail market.”

“The sheer number of options can sometimes be overwhelming for visitors.
