The State Government has called on young Western Australians aged 18-25 to apply for a unique opportunity to experience Hong Kong culture as part of the International Youth Exchange Program.
In August 2019, the 12 lucky delegates chosen to participate in the program will visit Hong Kong and meet their Hong Kong counterparts. The Hong Kong delegates will visit Perth in October 2019.
Now in its third year, the program gives young people the opportunity to develop self-confidence, build international networks, improve their understanding of different cultures and gain exposure to potential career options.
Young people from regional areas, as well as young Aboriginal people, and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The International Youth Exchange Program – a joint initiative of the WA State Government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government – aims to strengthen ties between Hong Kong and Western Australia.
The Department of Communities delivers the program in partnership with WA’s Youth Affairs Council. Applications close on May 13, 2019. More information is available at
As stated by Youth Minister Peter Tinley:
“The International Youth Exchange Program offers young Western Australians, and their Hong Kong counterparts, an invaluable opportunity to discover more about each other’s cultures and lifestyles.
“It also helps young people develop their self-confidence and build international networks, and gives them an improved appreciation of possible education and career goals.
“I urge young people between 18 and 25, especially those from regional areas and from Aboriginal and multicultural backgrounds, to apply for this fantastic experience.”
