Mark your calendars for 5 May 2023, because Walking Thomastown is back! This free event, organised by the City of Whittlesea in partnership with the Thomastown Precinct Action Group, will showcase the unique character of the vibrant and diverse suburb of Thomastown.
Be amazed by the breathtaking array of light installations, sculptures, art, live music, performances, soundscapes, and family-friendly entertainment. Walking Thomastown is not only an opportunity to celebrate the area’s heritage and cultural background but also a chance to foster community connection.
City of Whittlesea’s Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said that this immersive experience was suitable for all ages and abilities, making it an event that everyone could enjoy.
“We’re thrilled to offer this unique walking journey through Thomastown again. Our goal is to take you on a journey through the area’s hidden gems, while showcasing the rich history and culture that make Thomastown such a special place,” she said.
“Whether you’re a history buff, a lover of street art, or simply looking for a new way to explore the area, Walking Thomastown has something for everyone, so come along and enjoy this unforgettable event.”
The event will kick off at 5.45pm at Main Street Recreation Reserve with a parade organised by local schools and the Thomastown Neighbourhood House before continuing along Edgars Creek to the pioneer precinct at Westgarthtown and concluding at Ziebell’s Farmhouse Museum and Heritage Garden.
