Southern staff in Batemans Bay and Queanbeyan marched in unity to recognise our region’s Traditional Owners and to pay respect to the Stolen Generations during Reconciliation Week.
Queanbeyan staff participated in the walk together for the second time, while at the Batemans Bay Sorry Day Bridge Walk, it was the first year that staff had participated in the walk together behind a Southern banner.
In both locations, the procession of families, students, and community members stretched hundreds of metres for the symbolic walks.
The walks are a public expression of support for meaningful reconciliation between Australia’s Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, and stem from the Walk for Reconciliation across the Sydney Harbour Bridge on 28 May 2000.
