Council’s waste and recycling service provider, Veolia has had to change a couple of collection days, affecting households and businesses who normally have their rubbish, recycling or food and garden kerbside bins collected on a Wednesday.
Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said changes will affect collections in parts of Echuca, Echuca Village, Wyuna (town & rural), Lockington, parts of Rochester, Nanneella and Gunbower (town & rural).
“Changes are for services that fall on the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day public holidays which this year are on a Wednesday,” Cr Weston said.
“Collections for these days will move to the Saturday after.”
Collections affected are:
Usual collection day | Change to |
Wednesday, 25 December | Saturday, 28 December |
Wednesday, 1 January | Saturday, 4 January |
“Residents and businesses are reminded to put their bins out the night before collection is due,” Cr Weston said.
If for some reason a collection is missed, residents can always take their rubbish to the Echuca Environment Centre or transfer stations at Colbinabbin, Gunbower, Lockington, Mount Scobie, Rochester, Rushworth and Toolleen for a fee.
Recycling (items you would normally put in your yellow lid bin) can be taken to any of the transfer stations at no charge.
Transfer Stations are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, with opening hours available on council’s website.
