- The Miles Government has waived waste levies for City of Moreton Bay Council and Western Downs Regional Council to support these communities as they recover from this week’s storms.
- The waste levy exemptions follow similar exemptions provided to councils across Queensland following Tropical Cyclone Kirrily, Tropical Cyclone Jasper and storms in South East Queensland in late December.
- Waste levies can be exempted following disaster declarations or serious local events to alleviate financial pressures on councils.
The Miles Government has waived waste levies for City of Moreton Bay Council and Western Downs Regional Council following intense storms and heavy rainfall earlier this week.
Environment Minister Leanne Linard said waiving the waste levy would support community recovery efforts by preventing additional unforeseen costs for these councils during this critical time.
Waste levies can be waived for waste that has been generated because of a State-declared disaster or following a serious local event.
