Water Police, in conjunction with Victorian Fisheries Authority, have conducted an operation focusing on safety on the water over the weekend.
Operation Goulburn took place on the Goulburn River and Majors creek, Mitchelstown on 1 and 2 June.
Whilst safety compliance and social behaviour was generally good, the number of vessels being operated under the influence of alcohol was extremely disappointing and dangerous.
A 41-year-old Oaklands Junction man received a penalty notice for not wearing a life jacket in a vessel less than 4.8 meters in length.
A 59-year-old Golden Square man blew 0.173 and will be charged on summons.
A 55-year-old Melton South man blew 0.086 and received an infringement notice of $577 and a 6-month suspension of licence.
A 41-year-old Wandong man blew 0.106 and received an infringement notice $817 and 6-month suspension of licence.
Fisheries, Water Police and Safe Transport Victoria will be conducting further operations on the Kings Birthday weekend throughout Victoria.
People are urged to be conscious of their alcohol consumption and not to operate a vessel whilst under the influence.
