More than 70 submissions have been received by Kempsey Shire Council on a draft Coastal Management Plan.
Residents were asked to provide their feedback on a list of key actions to manage and protect our estuaries, rivers and open coastline over the next ten years.
Feedback was sought through an online survey with residents able to ask questions and contribute via a series of face-to-face workshops in South West Rocks, Hat Head and Crescent Head.
At the end of the public exhibition period, council received a total of 73 submissions.
Some of the feedback for managing our waterways included on-going water quality testing, protecting native vegetation and the removal of non-native species.
Council will now review and consider the submissions to refine the proposed management actions.
Once completed, the draft Coastal Management Plan will be placed on public exhibition again for final review before going to a future council meeting for adoption.
Council would like to thank everyone who took the time to fill out the survey and provide their feedback. If you would like to stay updated on the next phase of the project go to the project page on Council’s engagement website,
