The 2020 Kings Park Festival showcases a month-long program of events and activities suitable for the whole family, set among a backdrop of thousands of beautiful Western Australian native wildflowers.
The jam-packed calendar of events includes dozens of walks, talks and outdoor wellness events; displays, workshops and local acoustic musicians performing in Kings Park’s pristine parkland areas and the WA Botanic Garden.
There are instagrammable spots around every corner with more than 3,000 of WA’s 12,000 plant species on display in Kings Park.
Several local tourism operators will be hosting events across the month including bike and Segway tours, hike and high tea events and a trail run through the Park’s unspoiled bush tracks, offering locals the chance to be a tourist in their own town.
Guided walks designed for the vision-impaired and people who are hard of hearing or deaf will provide opportunities for the entire community to take part in the Festival program.
The Friends of Kings Park will host their famous native plant sale on Sunday September 20, with more than 7,500 plants available for sale.
The popular Flowers in Focus photography competition is back, providing budding and professional photographers with the opportunity to have their image of a Western Australian native wildflower displayed in Kings Park.
The Kings Park Festival is proudly presented by Kings Park and Botanic Garden and the Friends of Kings Park.
Those attending the festival must adhere to Phase 4 COVID restrictions. More information can be found .
As stated by Environment Minister Stephen Dawson:
“The Kings Park Festival has been held continuously for 57 years and is an important opportunity for all Western Australians to come together and celebrate our rich natural heritage.
“This year, Kings Park’s team of passionate horticulturists and dedicated volunteers have grown more than 25,000 plants which will bloom for the first time during the Festival.
“I encourage all Western Australians to plan a visit to Kings Park and to visit our regions this spring and see one of our State’s natural wonders – our beautiful wildflowers in full bloom. ‘Perth’s Green Heart’ is a magical place in spring.”
