Vital track maintenance will be completed under the new Melton Highway road bridge at Sydenham – helping to boost reliability for Bendigo line passengers.
Coaches will replace Bendigo and Echuca trains between Southern Cross Station and Gisborne from the first service on Saturday 10 August through to last service on Sunday 11 August. Coaches will connect with trains at Gisborne, then run to Bendigo and Echuca.
Important track maintenance works would also be completed at the same time between Sunbury and Sunshine to help minimise disruptions to passengers.
For Swan Hill customers, coaches will replace trains between Southern Cross Station and Bendigo, connecting with trains between Bendigo and Swan Hill.
In Melbourne, coaches will arrive and depart from the Southern Cross Station coach terminal located on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street.
Work completed across this two-day period will improve track infrastructure and provide a new access point for rail maintenance vehicles, which are critical for the ongoing safe operation of trains.
Passengers should allow up to 60 minutes additional travel time and are reminded pets, hot food and liquids cannot be taken on replacement coaches.
There will also be changes to evening services on the Bendigo corridor later in the month, while V/Line and Metro Trains complete evening maintenance works.
Coaches will replace trains for all or part of the journey from Sunday 18 to Tuesday 20 August, and again from Sunday 25 to Wednesday 28 August. For more information visit vline.com.au.
