A free, three-day festival celebrating India’s vibrant cultures will be held outside Perth Stadium to support The West Test – the opening cricket test of the summer between Australia and India.
The new festival will enhance the fan experience over the first three days of the test match from Friday, 22 November, to Sunday, 24 November, featuring live music and entertainment, an array of local Indian community street vendors and food experiences, cricket skills tests, art installations and more.
Fans attending the test match will also be able to cross Matagarup Bridge and show their West Test ticket at the WACA Ground to get free entry to the Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League|10 celebration match on Saturday, 23 November.
The West Test and supporting festival form part of a huge weekend of events in Perth, with the rescheduled WA Day Festival taking place at Burswood Park, as well as the World Supercross Championship at HBF Park and PrideFEST 2024 in Northbridge.
The West Test Summer Fest is supported by the WA Government, in partnership with Cricket Australia and WA Cricket.
The festival forms part of the WA Government’s events strategy, which seeks to maximise the impact of events to drive higher out-of-state visitor attendance, increase economic impact and create vibrancy in our communities.
Major regional and mass participation events injected $286 million into the WA economy in 2023-24.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:
“Hosting The West Test between Australia and India presents an enormous opportunity for tourism in WA.
“We have a very strong and proud local Indian community and of course we’re also expecting a large contingent of Indian cricket fans, who we know are incredibly passionate, to travel to WA for The West Test.
“Like we did with the AS Roma and AC Milan match earlier this year, in putting on a Little Italy Festival, we want to ensure people don’t just come over for the particular event they’ve bought tickets to.
“We want travelling fans to immerse themselves in the atmosphere these festivals create, stay as long as possible and enjoy what Perth has to offer. To us, that’s what being an events destination is all about.”
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:
“Cricket has a long history as one of Australia’s favourite pastimes, and The West Test is fast becoming a huge part of summer here in WA, made even more exciting this year by coinciding with the 10-year anniversary of the Women’s Big Bash League.
“I’m particularly excited to see the return of The West Test Hill this year, which creates a fantastic event experience for 500 fans to watch the match unfold from its three-tiered vantage point, and is a nod to Test cricket’s rich history at the WACA Ground.
“Our Government is proud to throw our support behind The West Test Summer Fest so we can ensure that, as the first stop on India and Australia’s five-match test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, we start the series on a high that will set the tone for an incredible summer of cricket.”
As stated by Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister Dr Tony Buti:
“Western Australia is home to a strong and proud Indian community, which has no doubt had a big influence on the fast-increasing visitor numbers from India, with people coming to visit family and friends in WA.
“We are anticipating this cultural festival will bring WA’s local community out in huge numbers to enjoy a weekend of cricket, culture and community, and build on our strong commitment to bringing Burswood Park to life with family-friendly multicultural events.”
