Grants open for WasteSorted Grants - Organics Infrastructure Program

Grants open for WasteSorted Grants – Organics Infrastructure Program

  • $1 million in funding available for the organics recycling industry
  • New grants to fast-track infrastructure and improve environmental management
  • Funding supports the McGowan Government’s commitment to FOGO

Western Australian operators of organics recycling facilities can now apply for a total of $1 million in funding, to support the rollout of Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) services.

The WasteSorted Grants – Organics Infrastructure Program helps processing facilities – such as commercial composters – meet the new Better Practice Organics Recycling guideline to improve environmental sustainability in their operations.

Up to $200,000 in funding can be allocated per site to fast-track infrastructure upgrades and support the processing of FOGO collected by local governments. Sixteen WA councils already have FOGO, with a further 11 committed to the rollout by 2025.

The program is administered by the Waste Authority. Successful projects must be implemented, with handling or processing waste, wholly or primarily sourced in WA.
