Clinic follows successful first pop-up

This weekend’s clinic follows a great community turnout at the VU Whitten Oval’s first clinic three weeks ago, when more than 2000 people rolled up their sleeves to get vaccinated.

The turn-out drew an impressive cross-section of the community, including those from CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) backgrounds, students, and the young and old.

Since getting vaccinated helps protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our community, this is a perfect opportunity to get vaccinated in a familiar, accessible location.

Rahmatullah Hossaini, a VU Bachelor of Laws/ Bachelor of Business student, participated in the first pop-up clinic.

He chose VU Whitten Oval because it was a great community initiative by the Western Bulldogs and VU.

Rahmatullah told media on the day that he was “eager to get back to campus, sport and cheering on the Western Bulldogs.”

VU’s great partners at the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) want everyone to play their part so we can “play on”.

The webinar will also provide an opportunity to hear from young people about their experience, and to answer any questions that other young people might have.

Hosted by WBCF General Manager Kashif Bouns, the guests include:

  • Acting Chief Health Officer in the Department of Health, Professor Benjamin Cowie
  • immunisation expert, Associate Professor Margie Danchin
  • Sobur Dhieu, a facilitator for the WBCF GOAL mentoring program from African Youth Initiative
